Bad runs at the Craps table are always frustrating - but clever players continue to make use of a proven loss cancellation system that you can use to decide precisely how much profit you want, and how much risk you can afford - it's called the Labouchere Craps Betting System.

So why all the rage over the Labouchere System?

The system has a big following thanks to its risk management feature which allows you to set your betting up with a known loss potential.

To set up the wagering system, you need to make a Labouchere ladder - a simple series of numbers that represent your betting units. Your chain can be any length and contain any betting units - each bet you place is the sum of the first and last unit of the chain.

For example, if your chain was 1-3-4-5 with a unit size of £1, your first bet would be £6. If your bet wins, you cancel the outside numbers - which would leave you with a chain of 3-4. If your next bet wins, then you'd have a profit of £13 and you'd have completed a chain.

As you can see, you're guaranteed a profit if you can completely delete a Labouchere chain - however, when a bet loses you'll have to make the chain bigger to recover your loss. After a losing bet, add the sum of your losing bet to the end of your chain. With our 1-3-4-5 chain, if the first bet lost, the new chain would become 1-3-4-5-6.
Be warned that the system can cause Labouchere stakes to quickly escalate - that being said, as long as you don't play with too much capital and have a chain limit the Labouchere System can be a consistent winner.

You can design you Labouchere chain anyway you like - but unless you're an experienced player, try starting out with minimal stakes. Good examples of Labouchere chains are 1-3-4-5 or 1-1-2-2-3 - but it's down to you.
