NFL Action at Twickenham
October sees the NFL head to London for two of the biggest games yet. On the 22nd of October, the Arizona Cardinals take on the Los Angeles Rams at Twickenham Stadium. Then a week later, the Minnesota Vikings take on the Cleveland Browns at the home of English Rugby. With predictions flying around in every direction, here is what we know for sure:
Rams vs. Cardinals
For the Cardinals, Peterson has provided a much-needed spark for a team that has struggled since losing running back David Johnson. Carson Palmer is another key figure completing 18 from 22 pass attempts for a total of 283 yards in his last game. The Cardinals have been known to let their foot off the gas defence wise and will have a tough time against the Rams strong Offence.
The Rams meanwhile will rely on their rushing attack with Todd Gurley heading up the charge. Coming off a strong season performance, Gurley rushed 116 yards in the Rams win over the Jaguars. The Rams defence recorded five sacks in the last game with a forced interception. If the Cardinals get their running game firing on all cylinders, the Rams could be in trouble. The Cardinals have a 17-13 record against Los Angeles so it could go either way.
Vikings Vs Browns
A week after the Rams/Cardinals game, the Browns will be making their London debut on the 29th of October. They will be going up against the Vikings, a team packed with NFL stars and one eager to win after tasting victory at Wembley in 2013. Both teams have the potential for greatness with key players to watch out for. The Browns have Terry Pryor who looks to be one of the most dynamic receivers in the NFL. They also have Jamie Collins whose versatility is and playmaking is exceptional. Let’s not forget the offensive capabilities of Joe Thomas.
The Vikings would be relying on Adrian Peterson. His power and speed will be an asset to the team as will his experience at Wembley. Kyle Rudolph is one of the NFL’s most reliable tight ends and will provide a huge catching radius. Harry Smith is considered to be one of the best defenders in the NFL. His big hits will prove to be essential against the Browns.
