Street Fighter II: The World Warrior Slot™ emulates the feel of Capcom’s classic 90’s fighting game. Players can choose one of 8 playable characters and fight through the ranks to eventually face off against M. Bison.
After selecting their character, players face off against a random opponent in a one-on-one battle. Winning combinations determine how much damage is given and received by the characters, chipping away at their health points until one of them reaches zero. Landing the player’s symbols will deal damage to the opponent, while landing the opponents symbols will deal damage to the player.
If the player is the loser then they get the chance to compete in a Car Smash Bonus game with the chance of redeeming their honour. If the player wins, they are awarded the opportunity to compete in a multi-level Beat the Boss Free Spins round.
Car Smash Bonus
Whenever a player loses a main game battle they are taken to the Car Smash Bonus Game for a chance to save face. The player will be given direct control over their character to try and destroy the car. There is the option to skip this mechanic via a Quick Finish button.
Managing to destroy the car will reward the player with a random coin win of between 5 - 15 times the amount bet. After the round is over any wins are added to the player’s total wins from the main game battle. The player is then returned to the player select screen.
Beat the Boss
Beating an opponent during the main game battle will allow the player to advance to Beat the Boss Free Spins round. This round consists of four levels each with its own boss that the player must beat. Each boss comes with their own multiplier. The four bosses are Balrog (2x multiplier), Vega (3x multiplier), Sagat (5x multiplier), and finally M. Bison (10x multiplier).
If a player has their character's health reduced to zero then they will be presented with the option of the Insert Coin gamble feature. This allows the player to use a portion of their winnings to restart the current level of the Beat the Boss round. Not activating the Insert Coin gamble feature will return the player to the character select screen.
Reducing each boss’s health to zero advances the player to the next boss. If the player manages to beat M. Bison they will be rewarded with 100 times their bet. Once the Beat the Boss round is over, all the winnings from the round are added to the player’s total winnings.
Choose your fighter
The playable characters on offer are Ryu, Ken, E. Honda, Blanka, Dhalsim, Chun Li, Guile, and Zangief. Each character offers a unique Wild Combo ability such as placing three Wild symbols randomly on the same wheel (Ryu), to two horizontal stacks of two Wild symbols randomly on the wheel (Zangief).
Wild symbols are able to substitute for any other symbol on the reel. During the main game and Beat the Boss rounds a Wild Gauge appears above players’ heads and is reset before each spin. High-value symbols that appear on the reel fill the gauge by one point. Having seven or more points in the gauge when no winning combinations appear triggers the Wilds function.
The rules of combat
The game operates as a 5-reel, 5-row video slot with a Cluster Pays™ mechanic. This means that symbols must occur in clusters of four or more rather than rows in order to pay out. A symbol is part of a cluster if it occurs either horizontally or vertically adjacent to another symbol.
There is also an Avalanche™ mechanic whereby any winning symbols from a spin fall away and are replaced by more symbols. This allows for continuous wins from one spin. Only the highest win per cluster is paid and simultaneous wins from multiple clusters are added.
The game has a total RTP of 96.06% and a total hit frequency of 23.97%.
