Top 5 Largest US Casinos Outside Vegas

In terms of actual gaming space, most of the biggest casinos (including the very largest one) in the US are located outside of Las Vegas. Shocking, but true. Las Vegas may be the gambling capital of the world but, if you take going large literally, then you might want to travel elsewhere in the United States for your gambling pleasure.

Although the majority of the top 10 largest casinos in the USA are situated in Las Vegas, the two biggest ones are actually located in other states and you’ll find several other venues on this list in places where you would least expect them.

Here’s our list, in ascending order, of the top five biggest casinos in the United States, outside of Sin City, by gaming space:

**Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa **(Atlantic City, NJ)

It is generally agreed that the next-best thing if you can’t make it to Las Vegas is Atlantic City, the United States’ other major gambling centre. On the Atlantic City of the Strip, the Boardwalk, is where you’ll find the fourth largest casino in the US.

The Borgota Hotel Casino & Spa features 161 000 square feet of gaming space, making it the crown jewel of New Jersey.  The venue offers 3 038 gaming machines and 259 table games.

San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino(Highland, CA)

Although this hotel and casino resort does not have the 480 000 square feet that some have erroneously attributed to it, the San Manuel Indian Casino remains one of the largest in the United States.

With over 220 000 square feet of gaming space, the San Manuel features 4 200 slot machines and over 100 table games. The resort, which is situated in California, 70 miles east of Los Angeles, spans 1 million square feet in total, with 480 000 square feet of this contained indoors.

Mohegan Sun(Uncasville, CT)

When you think of the bright lights of the gambling world, Connecticut is hardly the kind of place you’re likely to imagine finding them. The surprising reality, however, is that Connecticut is home to two of the largest casinos in the United States.

The first of these is the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville. This resort features 5 087 slot machines and 297 table games. The Mohegan Sun is actually a conglomeration of three casinos – Casino on Earth, Sky and Wind. Although the main casino floor measures just over 300 00 square feet, the three venues collectively span over 340 000 square feet, a total equal to that of the next casino on our list.

**Foxwoods Resort Casino **(Mashantucket, CT)

Now come the big guns. Foxwoods Resort Casino Mashantucket, Connecticut is the second largest casino in the United States. It boasts 344 000 square feet of gaming space, with a staggering 4 369 slots and 280 table games. In fact, Foxwoods is one of the largest casinos in the world – the largest Casino in Vegas, the MGM Grand, doesn’t even come close with only 170 000 square feet of gaming space.

**WinStar World Casino and Resort **(Thackerville, OK)

Bet you’d never have guessed that the biggest casino in the USA is located over a thousand miles west of Las Vegas in the unassuming town of Thackerville, Oklahoma – population: 445.

In 2003, local Native American tribe, the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma, dragged Thackerville out of obscurity and into the international spotlight by opening the WinStar World Casino and Resort within the town lines.

With 519 000 square feet of gaming space, WinStar dwarfs all other casinos in the country. It features 7 400 slot machines and 97 table games.
