European Blackjack Explained

Microgaming’s version of European Blackjack is a based on the classic game of Blackjack with European rules.

The main difference between the American version and the European version comes into play with the dealer’s hand. In the classic European version, the dealer is dealt two cards with one card facing upwards. This changes the dynamic of the game and allows players to change their strategy based on what the up-facing card is.

Otherwise the game itself is played in exactly the same way as you would play in a land based casino. In fact, when you play European Blackjack at Spin Palace mobile casino, you’ll enjoy such an authentic experience it will feel as if you are at a real table, in the midst of a bustling casino!

Bet Big or Bet Small

European Blackjack is a single hand game. This means that you only have one hand at time, unless the hand is split during play.

The game begins with you placing your bet and this can be done by tapping on the betting buttons at the bottom of the screen. The more you bet on any one hand, the higher the payouts will be if you win. Once you have placed your bet, you can start the game and 2 cards will be dealt to you, and 2 cards to the dealer. One of the dealers cards will however face up, giving you an advantage.

The aim of European Blackjack is to beat the dealer’s hand by getting as close to 21 points as possible, without going over 21. All of the low numbered cards from 2 through to 10 are worth their face value, the King, Queen and Jack are worth 10 points each and the Ace is worth 1 point or 11 points, depending on what is needed in the hand.

Straightforward Blackjack Game Play

Once the first two cards have been dealt, the idea is to look at the dealer’s face up card and decide if your hand will beat the dealer, or if you need to request an additional card. Because you cannot see the other card, the best you can do is try and get as high a score as possible without going over 21.

If you are dealt Blackjack, which is 2 exactly, in the first hand, you will automatically win the round. If you have a low scoring hand, you can hit and the dealer will deal you a fresh card from the two shuffled packs. If the additional card takes your hand over 21 points, this is called going bust and you lose your bet for that round.

Win Big with European Blackjack

In European Blackjack if you are dealt two of the same cards, you can choose to split your hand into two separate hands, which both face off against the dealer’s single hand. If you are dealt a hand totalling 8 or 9, you can choose to Double Down. This means that you double the bet and one additional card is drawn to your hand.

If you have a high scoring hand and you think you can beat the dealer’s score, you can choose to Stand. Once you have played your hand, the dealer will flip his down-facing card and hope that he has beaten your hand’s total!

In this game, the dealer must hit on 16 or less and stick on 17 or more. If the dealer manages to beat your score, you will lose your bet for that round. If the dealer cannot beat your score or goes bust, you will win even money on your bet.

If you win with Blackjack, the payout increases to 3:2, making this mobile casino game incredibly rewarding.
