Why Blackjack Is a Game of More Than Chance

One of the most helpful things you can remember when playing blackjack at Spin Palace is that, if you are serious about winning, you need more than chance or luck on your side. You also need strategy, however basic.

Luck certainly helps, considering that neither you nor the dealer can determine how the cards will be dealt. There’s absolutely no way of knowing what sort of hand you will start with.

Go Beyond Luck

However, because there are a limited number of cards in a deck, there are three visible cards on the table, and 21 is the magic number, various strategies that take all this into account could be most advantageous.

Most games use a shoe that contains eight decks of cards from which the Jokers have been removed. With the four suits repeated eight times, a blackjack hand worth 21 points should be dealt once every 22 hands.

This is obviously not a hard and fast rule, but it’s certainly worth keeping in mind. You won’t need to start counting hands or cards, but what you can do is implement strategies that take the odds into account.

Rely on Strategy More Than on Luck

Some, but not all, blackjack strategies are quite complex, and take many hours to master. Don’t let that put you off learning them, because you can always practice for free at Spin Palace.

We suggest starting off by learning and implementing a few of the simpler strategies. That way, you can get used to the idea of relying on more than chance when you play.

Quick and Easy Blackjack Strategies

When dealt Aces and eights, split them. Twos, threes, sevens, and nines could also be split, but don’t be too eager to split fives and tens.

If your hand is worth 10 or 11 points, double down and take another card to improve your total. It’s not usually a good idea to stand on such a hand, though, because the dealer will probably have a better total.

Stand when you have a total of 17 or higher and the dealer has a seven or higher. You can also stand if you have 12 or more points and the dealer has a five or a six; or when you have 13 points or higher, and the dealer has a two or a three.

Play blackjack at Spin Palace now and refine your skills to beat the dealer to 21 as often as possible!
