Most card games have specific expressions that have to do with how the game is played, and blackjack is no exception. Here are some key phrases you need to learn when you play blackjack online. “Card values” refer to the value of the individual cards in your hand. Royals (Jack, Queen, King, Queen) score 10, 2-10 score face value, and Aces score either 1 or 11 (player or dealer’s choice). To “hit” means to ask for another card. To “stand” means to not ask for another card. To go “bust” means to have a hand exceeding 21. “Blackjack basic strategy” is the best way to play a hand.

Strategic tips to play blackjack online

To play blackjack online successfully, you need to know more than just the basic blackjack rules. You need to apply basic blackjack strategy. This starts with never taking a card if there’s a chance of going bust. Always take the dealer’s upcard into account. If it’s a 7 or higher, or an Ace, it’s advisable to hit until you reach 17 or more. If the dealer’s upcard is a 4, 5 or 6, it’s best to stand when you reach 12 or more. Hopefully the dealer will hit and go bust. If the dealer’s upcard is 2 or 3, you should stop on 13 or higher. If you have a soft hand (a hand that includes an Ace), advice is to hit until you reach 18 at least. Always double down on 11 and split a pair of aces or 8s. The Basics of Blackjack

The objective in any Blackjack game is to get a hand total of 21, known as Blackjack, or as close to that as possible without going any higher, all whilst beating the dealer’s hand. The game is played between you and the Dealer, and at the start of each round you’ll place your bet.

You and the Dealer will then both get a hand of 2 cards. The number cards carry their face value, royal cards are worth 10 and aces are worth 11 or 1 depending on the rest of the hand. You’ll be able to see both of your cards and one of the Dealer’s, and must decide what to do next.
